Located at 217 West Main Street in downtown Salem, Illinois, the W.P.A. 1936 building, which currently houses Benjamin E. Edwards, Co., served the community first as a post office and, then, later, as the municipal library.
The building was purchased by Becky Carpenter Timmerman, a Salem native who recognized the value and importance of the building and it's place in the history of the region. Becky began the Historic Farmer's Market & Music on the Porch as a way to honor and preserve the historic nature of the structure. The building is available for tours most Saturdays during the Farmer's Market by contacting Becky prior to arrival.
